Getting started
This page will review a number of ways to start using the apps that support The Feed Network, starting with hosted apps, then moving on to user-installed apps.
Hosted apps
For authoring, notification, and cloud support in a hosted app, we recommend a WordPress.com website or using Drummer/OldSchool. For subscribing to other RSS feeds that support rssCloud, we recommend FeedLand. This combination allows users to get started without performing any installations. See the following links for getting started with these apps:
User-installed apps
If you have a web hosting account, you can set up a WordPress.org site for authoring, and use the WordPress RSS Cloud plugin for notification and cloud support, and use FeedLand for subscribing to feeds. Another option would be to install PHP-MST, which provides all-in-one functionality (authoring, notification, cloud support, and subscribing). See the following links for gettimg started with these apps:
If you have a server running some form of Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc.), you could install tools to support a WordPress.org website (PHP, mySQL, mySQLAdmin). Some server providers offer pre-built servers set up for WordPress. For these servers, you could install a personal instance of FeedLand or River5 for subscribing. Another all-in-one app is MyStatusTool. See the following links for getting started with these apps:

Other combinations
If you are using a blogging tool that creates RSS feeds, your tool probably supports editing of the feed template. In this way, a <cloud> element can be added. To provide a ping to a cloud server when you create a new post, you can use the ping form for rssCloudServer.
You can also use a regular hosted feed reader (like Feedly, InoReader, The Old Reader and other online feed readers), or native app feed readers (like Feedly and InoReader) but you will not get real-time notification of new posts.
